Now you can connect Epson printers to the new, high-speed interface for the Power Macintosh G3 or G4 computer. The EPSON Type B IEEE 1394 interface, or FireWire, can communicate with external peripherals at up to 400Mb per second. This speed allows the computer to run the printer at its full engine speed. Epson printers are fully plug n play on the EPSON Type B IEEE 1394 interface. Plug the special cable supplied from the computer to the printer. The computer will instantly recognize the printer and configure the appropriate driver. A printer can be attached and unplugged, without rebooting. This hot-plug feature of FireWire makes it particularly convenient when printers are shared between computers or have to be moved. FireWire allows several users who are located near each other to share an Epson printer, with the EPSON Type B IEEE 1394 Interface Card installed. Since FireWire is truly plug n play, its easier to set up than a typical local area network. Macintosh printer drivers for supported printers are included, along with a two meters IEEE 1394 6-pin cable and simple installation instructions. The EPSON Type B IEEE 1394 interface card has two connectors, allowing the printer to daisy-chain to other devices like other printers and many other IEEE 1394 compatible peripherals. As many as 63 devices can be daisy-chained, and they can be placed up to 4.5 meters apart.
