Wireless LANs (WLANS) are an attractive solution for cost-effectively and securely extending mobile access so workers can collaborate, even on high-bandwidth projects involving video or large graphics. Realize the benefits of this freedom with the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 3Com AirConnect 9550 2.4+5GHz PoE Access Point. This cost-effective IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0 PoE access point is designed to meet the needs of business of all sizes. It even supports IP telephony, ensuring high-levels of quality of service. The 3Com AirConnect 9550 dual-radio access point has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz 11n radios allowing it to support simultaneous 2.4 GHz 11b/g/n and 5 GHz 11a/n wireless connections, a feature typically found in only the more advanced enterprise-class products. One standard IEEE 802.3af PoE port provides flexible installation options in hard-to-wire locations by eliminating the need for an AC power plug at each AP. Any 3Com PoE Switch or other 802.3af-compliant PoE product supplies both power and data to the access points through Category 5 or 6 Ethernet cable. 3Com offers one of the most robust suites of standards-based security on the market today. The AirConnect 9550 supports the latest, most effective authentication techniques to thwart intruders and simplify network management. It delivers enterprise-class security to businesses of all sizes by protecting wireless data through the use of Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA2) with 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption (the latest, toughest standards-based security); WEP encryption is also supported for legacy clients. To protect against unauthorized network access, the access point supports IEEE 802.1X authentication and authorization through backend RADIUS servers using EAP-TLS, PEAP and EAP-TTLS. MAC address access control and peer-to-peer client restrictions provide further security options. Other advanced features include support for multiple SSIDs for each group of wireless users, IEEE 802.1Q VLANs, and secure Wireless Distribution System (WDS) bridging. Multiple antennas and advanced MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology provide enhanced wireless range, reliability and predictability. With 2 x 3 MIMO, the access point supports 2 transmit and 3 receive chains with two spatial streams, making it an ideal configuration for typical WLAN environments.
